International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR)

Fellowship of Reconciliation School is a program designed and implemented by the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, an international organization that serves for peace and reconciliation already for a century. Being formed as a result of a pact made in August 1914 at the outbreak of the First World War by two Christians, Henry Hodgkin (an English Quaker) and Friedrich Siegmund-Schultze (a German Lutheran), who were participating in a Christian pacifist conference in Konstanz, southern Germany (near Switzerland), the organization over the decades has been committed to its original intent of peace and reconciliation not only in between the two countries, but all over the world.

Based in Alkamaar, Netherlands, International Fellowship of Reconciliation as an umbrella organization connects countries with its member organizations from all over the world. To learn more about the IFOR, its mission and activities, please visit: www.ifor.org

FOR USA

Fellowship of Reconciliation School 2013 is hosted by the Fellowship of Reconciliation USA (FOR USA), which is a member organization to IFOR. The American Fellowship was founded during a Conference at Garden City, Long Island which took place shortly after the Cambridge conference, organized by Henry Hodgkin to take pledge forward of working for peace

As one of the national councils of International Fellowship of Reconciliation, FOR USA has been very active in supporting the work of IFOR since it was founded. It has also been a strong supporter of civil human rights movement in the USA during 1955-1968, closely working with Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Montgomery bus boycott, and holding workshops in nonviolence throughout the South, and producing a full-color comic book, Martin Luther King and the Montgomery Story, which sold over 250,000 copies.

European Commission Youth in Action programme

Fellowship of Reconciliation School 2013 is funded by Youth in Action which is the EU Programme for young people aged 15-28 (in some cases 13-30). It aims to inspire a sense of active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future.

Youth in Action is a programme for all! It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background.

Youth in Action is the successor of the YOUTH Programme (2000-2006). Building on the experience of the previous programmes for youth, Youth in Action is the result of a large consultation with the different stakeholders in the youth field and aims to respond to the evolutions and needs of young people at European level.

With a total budget of 885 million euros for seven years (2007-2013), the Programme supports a large variety of activities for young people and youth workers through five Actions .
